A Shag rug or Shaggy rug is a fiber-based rug with longer fiber strands than usual rugs, which gives it a less dense yet grassy natural look. Though not commonly used by many due to its unique grassy look, in the right settings, it can add texture and an extra dimension to the place. Moreover, they are fun to work on too.
History of a Shag rug: Although difficult to pinpoint many people say that Shag rugs probably originated in the middle east and central Asia about 100 years ago, though the alternate origin to the same is Ancient Greece, where the rugs were believed to be made out of goat hair, no consensus has been found on the topic.
