How We Measure Space For Rug | Measurement OF Rug | Best Area Rug Ideas Perth

A rug plays a very important role in one's home decor nowadays. Interior Designers pay great attention to the rug because it enhances the overall look of the rooms. They are very conscious about the rug's colour, size, shape, fibre and quality.

You can measure the size of the rug with this method. Place a sheet on the floor and fold it to one of the above sizes this will give a good visual guide to the most appropriate rug size. If you can't obtain the right-sized rug for your home we also offer alteration and made to order service. Measurement of a rug is very important. Our rug size ranges come in sizes: 80cm*150cm 120cm*170cm, 160cm*230cm, 200cm*290cm, 240cm*330cm (Length cm x Width cm). Keeping in mind that the majority of our designs can be custom made.

A rug sets the edges of the room. The bigger the rug, the more spacious it makes the room appearance (clearly this differs from room to room). With the type of room or office, we have mentioned few tips to think about.

Dining Room - How spacious your dining room is? What shape is your dining table? We suggest you 240cm*330 cm size of rug for the table.

Bedroom - There are some variations with bedrooms, using a rug as a substitute for carpet so your bed & side tables will sit on the rug, start the rug from where you step out of bed or at the foot of your bed roughly one third of your bed will be on the rug that will be more stylish. All looks complete, you just need to consider the look you are going for.

Living Room -You need to decide on what look you are going for...with minimalism you will find a small rug, with the furniture placed around it. But people are wanting style and comfort, you will be looking for a rug that all your furniture fit on or at least partially.

Hallway - Hallway runners are an ideal safeguard for tiles, vinyl, hardwood flooring and fitted rugs and are available in a range of designs, styles and prices to suit all tastes from short to extra-long lengths. Runners provide the perfect solution for covering wide areas of flooring. Runners come in complete sizes 67cm x 230cm and the regular fixed size of 80cm x 300cm.

Custom Shapes Rug | Affordable Designer Rugs Perth

CUSTOM RUG SHAPES

Choosing the right size of rug depends on your interior design of your room. A rug can be a focal point or accent. It can combine, extend or separate a room. When we think of rug, we usually thing of rectangular area rug. But we hardly considered other shape.

Here at Rug Junction, our designer rugs fit perfectly into your area whether it be square, round, a runner for an entrance and even irregular shaped rugs like ovals, hexagons, organic, free-form shape and rug with scalloped edges for an interesting finish.

The organic shape in a round and oval rug soften up the angles in a room, introducing balance into more powerful aesthetics. Soft curves offer contrast against hard, straight lines, creating a more playful feel. Round rugs help to define entryways and corners of large rooms, adding a space to linger. They also look great under a square or round dining tables.

The most common rug sizes are:-
80*150
120*170
160*230
200*290

(Length cm x Width cm)
The standard width of runners is 67cm and 80cm

There is no rule for designing a custom rug beyond your imagination. Imagination is the most powerful tool.

Best Rugs For High Traffic Areas | Modern Designer Carpets

Best Rugs For High-Traffic Areas

High traffic areas are the places where a high level of foot traffic stay for more time like hallways and entryways. People may often walk or clean their feet on the rug on a regular basis. Our aim is to identify these areas such as the dining room, living rooms where people spend quality time with their family, play with their kids etc. Frequent high pressure of the foot traffic can harm your rug fibers in such specific area more so it is essential for us to understand how a rug will be used within such specific space and choose a rug wisely that will endure wear and tear and extend the durability of the rug.

We at The Rug Junction recommend a low pile height of 10mm or less which will help the rug to be more robust and withstand regular wear over time compared to a rug with a composition of more delicate, softer longer plush fiber.

Yarns consisting of natural fiber such as 100% wool, are highly recommended due to its durability and endurance in high traffic well-used areas. Wool fiber is easier to clean and maintain due to its natural composition as compared to other more fibers.

Colour and pattern are also important factors. There is no purpose in buying a long-lasting rug if it is going to be stained by foot traffic. It occurs often when shoes are worn from outside to inside, bringing in dirt particle and transferring marks from shoes' sole onto the rug. Minimizing lighter colors will assist in keeping your rug looking its best ensuring many years of use and enjoyment. Remember that very light and very dark colors can dull your home decor. While a dark colour may good at hiding stains, it will show lint and dust more than other colours. A carpet that is neither too light nor too dark will be the best colour for masking these issues.

How To Install Carpets On Stairs | Modern Designer Rugs

How To Install Carpets On Stairs

Are you struggling to place a carpet on a flight of stairs? Rug Junction has got you covered. With a little time and patience, you can easily install that beautiful carpet and enhance the look of your staircase. Wrap the carpet around the edge of the stairs from the bottom to the top. This is known as the French cap method of installing the carpet. Next, staple the carpet to ensure its stability.  Trim excess edges to prevent any bulges from forming.

If this method seems too tedious, go in for the waterfall method of installing your rug or carpet on the stairs. Here the carpet is attached to the edge and drops down simply to the next stair, without being stuck to it. Similarly, trim the excess carpet wherever required.

How To Choose Your Carpet Colour | Living Room Rugs Perth

How To Choose Your Carpet Colour

If you’re in a dilemma about which carpet colour to go in for when enhancing the look of your house, we’ve got you covered. Visualizing the colour of the carpet from a tiny swatch can be a tough task. Since carpets are usually a long-term investment, it is better to get into the nitty gritty’s of the colour choices to get hold of the best one for your home.

To get started, start by selecting a sofa colour and base the colour of the carpet on that. Try going in for neutral coloured carpets, which don’t overpower the look of the room, keeping it simple and classy. Beige and warm greys are popular choices. Your lifestyle is an important factor in choosing the right carpet colour. If you’ve got a busy home bustling with children and pets, light colours won't work. Go in for bolder colours in such cases, to prevent the carpet from getting dirty too soon.
